County Broadband is one of the UK's larger rural alternative networks (altnets), designing, building and operating its own full-fibre (FTTP) network to villages across Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire in the East of England, with a target of reaching up to 500,000 rural premises. Registered as County Broadband Ltd (Companies House 04666043, incorporated 13 February 2003) at Old Bourchiers Hall, New Road, Aldham, Colchester CO6 3QU (near Colchester, Essex) and led by founder/CEO Lloyd Felton alongside fellow directors Charles William Grant Herriott and Ian Shervell, the company has been supported by a combined £146m investment from Aviva Investors (£46m in 2018 plus a further £100m in 2022) targeting FTTP delivery to over 250 rural villages. In July 2025 County Broadband merged with Aviva-backed Truespeed to form a combined rural full-fibre operator covering approximately 177,000 premises Ready for Service and 41,000 customers across Devon, Wiltshire, Somerset and the East of England, with further consolidation talks with Freedom Fibre reported in January 2026.
