The network was founded by the Buckminster Estate and operates as a community-focused rural specialist.

Independent profile snapshot

This extended snapshot summarises how the provider presents itself in the UK market. It supplements the dataset-led summary above.

Buckminster Broadband is a rural wireless and fibre broadband provider operating across a 75 square-mile area of rural Leicestershire and surrounding counties, delivering speeds of up to 80Mbps to homes and businesses in villages underserved by BT and Openreach. Trading as Buckminster Broadband Partnership and owned by the Buckminster Estate (a multi-generational family-owned estate centred on Buckminster Village near Grantham, which also includes farms, cottages, the Tollemache Arms pub and rural industrial property), the broadband business began in 2012 after the estate invested in a fibre-optic cable connection from the A1 more than three miles away. High-speed signal is beamed from an old water tower linking to a network of receivers and boosters installed on residents' properties, with a typical installation taking 2-3 hours and a small antenna fitted externally. Buckminster Broadband offers an optional phone line with each package (porting existing numbers from previous suppliers) and is a member of the Country Landowners Association social-value working group with the National Innovation Centre for Rural Enterprise.
